Action Orientated Team Leadership

This course deals with the generic key leadership principles and practice found within the diverse contexts of action orientated teams. Participants study dynamic leadership, motivation, conflict resolution, effective team structure, situational awareness and the effective management of subjects. Principles of decision-making, minimising critical incident stress while providing leadership, task management and managing timeframes are also explored. The course is a mix of practical and theoretical issues and involves the students being interactive and exploring the issues in the context of a team leadership role.

Duration: The core course material is normally delivered over three days. There is also introductory work. Assessment occurs alongside the training.

Course recommended for: all emergency response personnel that have the capabilities to carry out a team leadership role whether as part of a Search, Rescue or Management Team.

Prerequisites: There are no prerequisites for this course although involvement in the emergency response sector is preferred.

Venue recommendations: access to classroom type facilities, datashow and 2 rigid stretchers.

Venue hire, participant accommodation and catering are a local cost.

Equipment requirements:  notebook and pen, clothing suitable for work in the field regardless of weather.

Course Numbers: for 2 Instructors generally a minimum of 14 and maximum 20 participants (negotiable).
